It's always a fun week in Foods 1 when it's Cupcake Wars Week. Each class had a theme they used as a guideline to create 1 dozen cupcakes to Wow! the judges. Some of the highlights are pinned below. As always, Mrs. Kujda will be making photo posters for the classroom door to highlight the winners from each class. Great job Foods 1 with this competition!!

Thanksgiving Week was busy in Foods 1 and Baking and Pastry Arts classes. Foods 1 welcomed Chef Kevin from MCCC Culinary Department who demonstrated knife skills for the students. BPA perfected their pie crusts and filled them with Pumpkin, Apple, and French Apple fillings to share with staff and students. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Foods 1 classes have been learning about cooking vegetables and baking fruits this week. On Thursday, they prepared their Apple Crisp recipe and baked it on Friday! Some students brought their own ice cream to make theirs "ala mode".
Baking and Pastry Arts students spent the week researching and the making Cream Puffs! On Friday they randomly, along with having some teacher requests, delivered their finished products to teachers and administration around the building. They turned out beautiful!! The Baking and Pastry Arts class is practicing their measuring skills by making Mason Jar Cookie Mixes that will be for sale starting Wednesday, September 21st. They will be sold for $9 each. Ask your student or any Baking and Pastry Arts student for their order form to order yours today. Cookie mixes offered are: Chocolate Chip, S'Mores, and Snickerdoodle. They make great gifts!!
The first day of school went very well today! In Foods 1 and Baking and Pastry Arts the students learned how to make an edible, decorative rose from a Tootsie Roll. It was a creative way to "play with our food". Check back to see how our first lab demonstration turns out on Friday.
